The principal works of Byzantine historian Procopis (c.500 - c.562) are the History of the Wars of Justinian, and On Justinian Buildings. The authenticity of his authorship of The Secret History is now generally accepted --- it is a virulent attack on Justinian: his policy and his officials, and the dubious morals of the Empress Theodora.
