L'intensification raisonn�e de la production de petits ruminants au p�turage dans la Cara�be a pour objectif d'augmenter la productivit� animale par hectare (via des performances individuelles et un chargement �lev�s). Cet objectif passe par une optimisation de facteurs tels la g�n�tique, la reproduction, la sant� et l'alimentation. Dans ce dernier cas, favoriser le comportement s�lectif des animaux contribue � cette intensification car il am�liore la qualit� de la ration pr�lev�e. Cependant ceci aurait pour cons�quence de g�n�rer l'accumulation des refus sur les prairies et pourrait induire � terme une d�gradation de la valeur pastorale. Nous avons �tudi� l'impact de l'�limination ou non des refus sur des prairies p�tur�es par des femelles allaitantes. Ce travail a �t� conduit par une approche globale allant de la prairie au troupeau en passant par l'herbe et l'animal. Deux mod�les animaux ont �t� utilis�s: les brebis (grazer) versus les ch�vres (browser).
