You were not weak. You were not foolish. You were programmed. From the moment you were born, society began writing a code into you. Your parents ran it. Your school reinforced it. The movies you watched installed it deeper. The music, the religion, the culture Nigerian or American or anywhere in between all of it contributed line by line to a program running silently in the background of every choice you make and most men never even know the program exists.

This book is for the 18 year old man standing at the beginning of his life, about to make decisions that will cost him years if no one tells him the truth now. This book is for the 35 year old man sitting with quiet confusion, wondering why doing everything right still left him empty, broke, or alone. This book is for the 50 year old man who finally sees the pattern and wants to make sure his son does not repeat it. This is for all of you.

Now let me be precise about one more thing before we begin. This book will talk about women. It will talk about behaviors, patterns and conditioning that exist within female culture both in Nigeria and America and beyond. It will name things that society has made it almost illegal for a man to say out loud.

But naming a pattern is not the same as condemning an entire gender. Women are also conditioned. They did not invent these patterns alone. Society built them too, told women what to do with their bodies, their emotions, their relationships. This book does not ignore that.

What this book refuses to do is pretend that male conditioning does not exist simply because talking about it makes people uncomfortable. A man who sees clearly is not a bitter man. He is a dangerous man, dangerous to every system that profits from his blindness.

This book will also never tell you to stop being a protector or a provider. Those are not weaknesses. They are part of the deep and powerful nature of manhood when directed correctly. The key word is correctly.

A lion does not offer his strength to every creature in the jungle. He is discerning. He knows who he protects, who he hunts for and who he walks away from. That discernment is not cruelty, it is wisdom.

That is what this book will teach you. Not to hate. Not to run. Not to harden your heart until nothing gets in. But to see. To think. To choose deliberately, consciously and without apology.
