"Pamphlet edition," describing the completion of 820 miles of track on Sept. 20, 1868, the agricultural and mineral wealth along the route, the future business of the company, its savings and profits to the Government, etc. Ex-lib., with stamp of the Bureau of Railway Economics. Some chipping to spine and edges of wrappers, one closed tear; previous owner's signature at head of front wrapper. The railroad connecting the east and west coasts was finally completed in May 1869, with the Union Pacific and Central Pacific lines meeting at Promontory Point in Utah.
