PUSS IN THE PALACE.

SECOND EDITION circa 1919 (first published circa 1910 by Henry Frowde), miniature children's book approximately 67 x 59 mm, 2½ x 2¼ inches, buff boards, double string knot binding, large colour plate on upper cover of the cat in doublet and hose, pretty green and mauve floral endpapers, 31 pages. Charming coloured frontispiece of a shepherd boy dancing with a shepherdess, vignette to title page, all text printed green. Lower cover lightly stained, minute hole in lower hinge, no inscriptions. A very good plus clean tight copy. The cat becomes court jester and has his simple friends promoted to be Lord and Lady but they get bored and return to their humble life. The cat rises very high at court but is overthrown and he too returns gratefully to the cottage hearth. Items in this little series are often found lacking the frontispiece as with use the string cuts through its inner margin.
