Reviews
The corporate strategies of "downsize, dismantle, and debt" that led to the dismissal of many managers have motivated a University of Chicago professor to prepare this practical guide. After detailing events at Phillips Petroleum, Gulf, CBS, and Goodyear, Hirsch suggests that managers be less loyal to their companies and become "free agents." He urges them to be visible, marketable, general, credible, and mobile. This message, while important, is hardly new.
