Synopsis:

Paddington Bear has charmed readers of all ages for almost 60 years! Now part of the I Can Read line, Michael Bond’s classic character will delight beginning readers with his curious nature and nose for adventure.

Paddington and Mr. Gruber enjoy a day off from their duties as they set out to explore London with Jonathan and Judy. Each turn brings a new discovery, and Paddington’s nose for adventure leads to the greatest surprise of all.

Paddington’s Day Off is a Level One I Can Read book, which means it’s perfect for children learning to sound out words and sentences.

What kind of gentle mischief will Paddington find on his day off?

  • I Can Read Level 1: Uses simple sentences and familiar words, making it the perfect book for children who are eager to read on their own.
  • A London Adventure: Explore the city with Paddington and his friends, from the Portobello Road market to a beautiful park with a bandstand.
  • A Sweet Friendship Story: Paddington, Mr. Gruber, Jonathan, and Judy share a wonderful day off together, filled with cocoa, marmalade sandwiches, and fun.
  • A Funny Surprise Ending: When Paddington gets stuck under the stage, he accidentally becomes the star of the show in a hilarious finale that will have kids giggling.

About the Authors:

Michael Bond began chronicling Paddington’s adventures in his first book, A Bear Called Paddington, published in 1958. Fortunately, bears don’t need much encouragement, and Paddington has since filled the pages of twelve further novels, a variety of picture books, and many other projects written for the young at heart.

R. W. Alley has illustrated a number of books featuring Paddington Bear. He lives in Barrington, Rhode Island, with his wife, author Zoë B. Alley.
