This is the sixth edition of Pagan Papers, a collection of eighteen essays on subjects as diverse as "Smoking", "Loafing" and "The Romance of the Road". Blue cloth, near fine, 8vo-sized hardback with gilt lettering to spine. 192pp. Pre-dates The Wind In The Willows by ten years. What makes this book so special for a Grahame collector is the fact that it still has its original dustwrapper - very plain looking powder blue with dark blue lettering to the spine: "Pagan Papers.Kenneth Grahame.5/- net.The Bodley Head" This dustwrappered example from 1898 is rather rare and a not unimportant piece of publishing history.
