Colophon in the back: "200 copies for the biennial Roxburghe-Zamorano meeting, San Francisco, October 1984. Printed by Richard J. Hoffman, Van Nuys, California." Edwin M. Todd, M.D. (1920-2015) was an American neurosurgeon who served as a Tech Sergeant in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army during WWII. In this folio, Todd examines the changing beliefs about pain in different cultures and historical periods such as ancient Egypt, Greece, China, Mesopotamia, the Renaissance, and modern times.
