Pair of small folded leaves, each 5.5 x 3.5", each with two pages of text. Two autograph letters by English novelist and author of "Lorna Doone," R.D. Blackmore. In the first letter, dated August 12, 1896, Blackmore discusses contributing a short story to "your extra no", noting with humility that "I am a slow coach, or rather perhaps a lumbering wagon, not up to the bicycle sprints of the day. However I do my heavy best." The second letter is dated September, 23, 1896, written to novelist Frank Harris. Blackmore writes that he enjoyed reading two of Harris's books, and hopes for Harris to visit him. In very good condition with mild soiling and creasing, some smudging to ink in a few places.
