About this Item
Large double page map (22" x 19 1/2"), some coloring, text title cartouche in bottom right corner. Unclear when coloring was done, some expert repairs at fold on verso, ample margins, text on verso, some minor soiling and browning; otherwise very good. Nice impression. Willem Blaeu (1571-1638) was the founder of one of the great cartographic publishing dynasties, which produced some of the best maps of the period. This is rather attractive map showing what was part of Bavaria, and the Danube River in the bottom part of the map. The map basically features southwestern Germany. A colorful title cartouche with a coat of arms helps decorate the map. Van De Gohm p. 104-106. Seller Inventory # 104140
