The Pale Girls

What if one person was your whole world?

A young couple fall in love in a time when scientists are discovering that humanity has stopped being able to have children. When the two realise they are an exception to this rule, so do the authorities.

Almost two hundred years later, in the overgrown ruins of a world almost empty of people, the only person Mouse has ever known is Cat, the brave girl who carried him inland, away from the coughing sickness that came from the sea and killed their families. Courageous and clever, the duo know how to survive. And then strangers arrive with a threat to be met, and a choice to be made. Nothing will ever be the same.
And innocence may die first, but hope? Hope dies last.

The Two of Us at the End of the World by the award-winning author C. A. Fletcher is a deeply engaging story about resilience that bridges the gap between the end of the world and its aftermath as four unforgettable characters try not only to survive, but to preserve the very thing that makes life worth saving in the first place.

***While this story takes place in the same world as Fletcher's bestselling novel A Boy and his Dog at the End of the World, both stories can be read with no prior knowledge of the other and in any order, without spoilers***

C. A. Fletcher has children and dogs. He lives in Scotland and writes for a living.
