Item description from seller

Gold-toned gelatin silver print (46" x 20"). A single composite print (consisting of three nearly seamless parts), mounted on board. A few scattered short tears and small tack holes at the edges, one three-inch closed tear on right edge, one narrow light stain along the left edge, about very good overall, with toning and dust-soiling on the back of the board. An exceptional panoramic view of the Forum Romanum, with the Temple of Saturn prominent at the center; the Temple of Vespasian and Arch of Septimius Severus on the left; and with the Colosseum visible in the distant background on the right. The image is one of a splendid series of images of the Forum attributed to the Italian photographer Domenico Anderson. A closely similar view by Anderson won the Silver Medal at the Chicago Convention in 1887.
