The introduction prepares model makers with tips on selecting and shaping a variety of craft papers. Directions for each project are systematic and include lists of the simple implements (always scalpel or modeling knife, scissors, impact adhesive) and quantities, types, sizes, and colors of paper required, followed by step-by-step assembly instructions. Double-page spreads of labeled body parts on a grid and an assembly diagram appear after the directions. Measurements are supplied in both metric and American terms. Many of the projects are accompanied by a black-and-white photograph of some detail of assembly. A large full-color photograph of each completed model in natural-appearing surroundings appears in or near its directions. The process and result are likely to give model makers a sense of satisfying accomplishment. The brief description of unique physical features and habits heading each project add to the appreciation of the animal to be recreated. This information is, for the most part, factual and based on recent discoveries, with some jarring exceptions: "The Kuehneosaurus (Kuehne's reptile) was discovered in Britain in the late Triassic period 210-200 million years ago."
