王维慎七岁习武、十八岁夺得重庆-四川武术擂台赛桂冠。抗战爆发后弃武从戎，解放战争中率部携军用物资起义。新政权初立，他历经坎坷：半生颠沛，以劳力谋生，却始终以武为命。1979年，六十五岁的他在上海校园重作"冯妇"，以武当松溪绝技示范而再度为世所识；其后撰写并公开松溪派资料，打破门规秘传，1989年出版《武当松溪派内家拳》，系统阐述源流、拳理、内功与医理，被武坛誉为承上启下之关键人物。1995年逝世之际，其抗战与起义事迹亦为官方与同侪所证。

本书不仅是武术史与近现代史的互证，更是一部关于"理解与和解"的家庭记忆录。作者以学理的严谨与亲情的温度，呈现一个武者的技与德、荣与辱、沉潜与复出，亦回答何以在漫长的误读之后，重新认识一个父亲、一代人，以及他们与国家、民族、武学相互成就的历史。
