A charming booklet printed with this parable, of which Benjamin Franklin would use as a light-hearted hoax, "reading" it from the Bible. An uncommon printing of this parable, presented here as a booklet with card wraps.With a coloured frontispiece illustration.Written in the style of the King James version of the Bible, 'The Parable Against Persecution' was one of Franklin's hoaxes for when in the company of a famous bishop or scripturian.Exceedingly fond of hoaxes, he memorised this parable, and when conversation turned to the subject of religious intolerance and persecution, he would request a Bible and then proceed to "read" the story from the Book of Genesis, proceeding to confound his hearers by asking what chapter it was in the Bible. A stapled booklet with decorative card wraps. Externally, very smart, with slight sunning to the wrap and with marks visible to the flyleaf. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages. Very Good.
