Paranoise (Paperback)

Paperback. With a nod to performance poetry and spoken word, Ravnikar brings academic poetry down to earth with a stylistic approach that embraces the long and diverse traditions of American poetry while keeping his eyes squarely on the philosophy of language and scholarship in communication studies, all the while placing a prime value on entertainment. A book of somewhat experimental poems in a paratactic and asyntactic mode, Paranoise attempts to reconstruct poetic language. Not quite nonsense but definitely not constrained to formal poetry's rigid parameters, this poetry collection challenges what it means for poetry to mean something. It features techniques of abstraction, wordplay and free association in rhythms drawn from syncopated, staccato and chant patterns. This item is printed on demand.
