Parasha Impact!: An Immediate Message, for the Shabbos Table

Every parsha has a moment where it turns. Dovid Kaplan finds it, and hands it to you before you have finished reading.

These are the parsha shiurim he has given at Yeshivas Ohr Somayach since 1987, set down the way he says them: a story you did not see coming, a question worth asking, and an answer you can do something with. The sources are the classic ones - Rashi, the Medrash, the Gemara, the Chofetz Chaim - brought the way a rebbe brings them when he is talking to you rather than lecturing at you. Bereishis, Just Do It. Vayeira, The Ultimate Test. Shemini, The Very Same Calf. Fifty-four in all, one for every parsha of the year.

He is careful to say that almost none of it is his own chiddush. It is the mefarshim; the work was teaching them. Short enough for the Shabbos table, long enough to stay with you.

Rabbi Dovid Kaplan is a senior lecturer at Yeshivas Ohr Somayach in Yerushalayim and a mashgiach ruchani at Yeshivas Bais Yisroel. He is the author of the Impact! series.
