Original partially printed and ink holograph marriage license. Single leaf. Measuring 8½" x 7". Document dated 22 December 1869. Docketed on verso. Signed by J.H. Chappell and by Lem. P. Singer, Clerk of the Probate Court, and by the officiant, a reverend whose signature is a bit hard to read ("Rev. Gelbiercarlton[?]"). Folded twice, with one short tear at fold, lightly browned, a very good copy. A very uncommon Reconstruction-era "colored" marriage license.
