Matthew Treadway, EdD, is an experienced school leader and former principal of Freedom Elementary School in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. During his tenure, he guided his staff in developing a culture anchored in the three big ideas of a professional learning community (PLC). This work led to Freedom Elementary being recognized in 2020 as a Model PLC at Work® School, the first in the district and only the second elementary school in the state to earn this honor.
Before serving as principal, Matthew was an assistant principal and special education teacher at both the elementary and middle school levels. His leadership is rooted in a commitment to meaningful access for all students, the use of data to drive instructional decisions, and the creation of schoolwide systems that ensure every learner receives the time and support necessary to thrive.
Matthew holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Western Kentucky University, a master’s degree in learning and behavior disorders from Campbellsville University, and an educational specialist degree in instructional leadership, superintendent certification, and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of the Cumberlands.
