We Pass Knowledge to One Another

Scott Martin Locke is a self-described “laborer in thought.” Having spent years in study, he is a man driven by a seemingly insatiable desire for knowledge. Yet he is not satisfied with simply learning for its own sake. He reflects, contemplates, and yearns for wisdom to arise from the words he digests. He “thinks about his own thinking,” thereby pondering the nature of consciousness itself. He utilizes his learning to reflect upon his own life experience and to strive for self-improvement. In this final part of his trilogy, one that began with An Adventure in Learning and continued with The Basis of Elemental Thoughts, Locke stretches himself further, moving beyond his own questioning and search for self-discovery to highlight the importance of sharing one’s thoughts, knowledge, and wisdom with others. For Locke is not only a philosopher — he is a humanist. This is his story.
