George Abecassis was one of the last of the amateur drivers whose experience and dedication to the sport made him a semi-professional. His successes both before and after World War II made him an English household name. Abecasssis was a member of the Aston Martin racing team in the postwar years and a part owner of HWM which gave early drives to the likes of Stirling Moss and Peter Collins. George Abecassis competed in 217 races, including four runnings of the Mille Miglia, and had a highly distinguished wartime career in the Royal Air Force. A Passion for Speed is illustrated with numerous photographs never before published and many personal and family documents.
