About the Author

Franz Rothe is a distinguished mathematician and accomplished musician whose life bridges the realms of science and art. Educated in Germany and Switzerland, he earned his doctorate in mathematics from the University of T�bingen and later became a professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Alongside his academic career, Rothe pursued classical music, recording three CDs with pianist Thomas Turner. In his book From My Past Life: Mostly Flute Music and Math Writing, Rothe offers an intimate blend of autobiography, mathematical reflections, and artistic insights. Now living between the U.S. and Germany, he continues to write with depth and clarity, revealing how mathematics and music can enrich each other-and our understanding of life itself.
