Light cover soiling, very slight sloping of spine, two previous owners names on title page, otherwise a bright clean copy. Tait's Hastings Prize Essay "On the Pathology and Treatment of Ovarian Disease" was originally published in 1874 in seven installments in the British Medical Journal, and then published separately as a small book of 67 pp. In his Diseases of Women (1877), Tait revised the essay for his chapter dealing with diseases of the ovaries. Then in 1883 Tait greatly enlarged the essay and published it as the so-called fourth edition offered here. MacKay, Lawson Tait, pp. 62-69. This is the American edition and appears to be identical to the British. Seller Inventory # 2068
