A Pathway to Goodbye

A thought provoking, faith-based novel exploring the mysterious final moments of life before death

As Ellie lies in her hospital bed, she thinks of the future she had planned. But those hopes and dreams are now gone, replaced with the crushing despair of a terminal cancer diagnosis. Entering the uncharted waters of hospice care, Ellie tries to remain faithful, trusting that God will take care of her, but her anger and sadness are all consuming.

As her pain worsens and grief takes hold of her family, her faith is tested, and as the path through hospice care narrows, she begins to experience vivid dreams of loved ones who have passed before her. The last thing she expected, she finds peace in their presence and seeks guidance on the meaning of life. With the help of four visitors, she embarks on one last journey towards the kingdom of heaven while learning how to say goodbye.

In A Pathway to Goodbye, hospice nurse Laura Ritter sheds light on the mysterious final moments of life. Exploring themes of death and dying, Ritter considers how faith in God helps people withstand both death and losing a loved one. The book offers spiritual renewal while serving as a source of comfort to the dying, the bereaved, and even healthcare providers who have lost a patient.

Laura Ritter is a registered nurse working in hospice care. She is currently working on becoming a nationally recognized expert in her field. She lives in St. Louis with her husband and two children.
