Financial literacy helps you gain control over your financial life and unlocks the door to financial success. You need to have money for your basic needs: food, shelter, and clothing. Financial literacy includes strategies for budgeting, saving money, and managing payments of bills and debts. Getting money and managing money are two different concepts.

Understanding the major concepts of financial literacy and the concept of financial well-being will help you to meet current and ongoing financial responsibilities, achieve financial stability, become secure with your financial future, and help you make financial choices that allow you to enjoy life by becoming more self-sufficient.

The choices made to attain financial well-being are rooted in financial literacy—which has five major components you should be aware of:

The financial literacy material was developed over two decades by Frederick Wentz. He began developing his training plan while helping recently released offenders gain employment. He also had a lot of experience losing his hard-earned money because he was financially uneducated.
