About the Author

RABBI NACHUM L. RABINOVITCH (1928–2020) was the head of Yeshivat Birkat Moshe in Maaleh Adumim for over thirty years and was widely recognized as a major halakhic decisor. Rabbi Rabinovitch served as a rabbi and rabbinical court judge in a number of communities in North America and as the principal of Jews’ College in the UK, and he held a doctorate in the history of mathematics from the University of Toronto. He is considered one of the greatest experts of the past century in Maimonides’ halakhic and philosophical works. His magnum opus is the Yad Peshuta, a commentary on Maimonides’ Mishneh Torah. He also published volumes of responsa, Siaĥ Naĥum and Melumadei Milĥama, as well as many articles on Maimonides’ teachings and other topics in Torah and Jewish thought. The first volume of these essays, Pathways to Their Hearts, appeared in the Maggid Modern Classics series in 2023.
