This book is a comprehensive view of the Effanbee Patsy family dolls. These composition dolls, from the original mama doll named Patsy to the special edition dolls, have all been the subject of extensive research. The wig and original costuming decreed the true identity of these dolls rather than the marking on the head or torso! This book is a necessity for identifying and learning about the classic Effanbee dolls. Featured are 121 color photographs out of 544 photos. 224 pages.
Patricia N. Schoonmaker began her interest in writing with a high school journalism course. She was invited to become a member of Quill and Scroll International Honorary Society and served as Editor of her high school newspaper. Later, she was to write publicity stories for Shirley Temple and Deanna Durbin for their club newspapers in the early 1940s. Seeing Shirley Temple's doll collection inspired Pat to begin her own.
The author has been a member of the United Federation of Doll Clubs since 1956. She has privately published Research on Kammer and Reinhardt Dolls, Further Research on Kammer and Reinhardt Dolls, and The Effanbee Patsy Family and Related Types, as well as many articles for Doll News and The Doll Reader.
In her collecting years, Mrs. Schoonmaker has acquired much original resource material on Teddy Bears along with antique dolls. She has shared many of her findings through publications and slide programs about teddy bears and dolls. To her good fortune, her husband John's hobby is photography which makes a good team for research projects.
The Schoonmakers are the proud grandparents of Lisa and Kevin Schoonmaker, and Jonathan, William, and Christopher Koeningsaecker for whom they buy teddy bears.
