Pause: Sometimes Stillness is the Strategy

Cancer didn't kill her. Instead, cancer took her childhood friend and neighbor-and her beloved career. Based on actual events, Pause: Sometimes Stillness Is the Strategy is a memoir-style nonfiction novel. The author, Sonia Robinson, shares her story as she traverses childhood, career, divorce, breast cancer, love, and loss.

From her great-grandmother, Mamie, Robinson inherited a recipe for life composed of three essential ingredients: family, hard work, and faith in God. Pause is a story about a real, raw, and flawed protagonist trying to keep a steady paycheck, health insurance, and her two young sons in their childhood home.

Sonia Robinson's background encompasses college, career, motherhood, and cancer. She earned a bachelor's degree with a concentration in Public Relations and an MBA from the University of North Alabama. Over the past twenty years, Sonia has worked in three industries: healthcare, human capital management, and biotech nonprofit organizations. She has intentionally paused her career twice-first after her breast cancer diagnosis and again after completing her first experience as a Chief Executive. In 2025, Sonia founded Mamie Ruth & Co., a personal brand powered by legacy and a belief that the pause in your story is not the end. It's the turning point. Mamie Ruth & Co. helps high-performing women reflect, rest, and reclaim their path forward, especially when life interrupts their momentum.Named after her great-grandmother, Mamie, and her grandmother, Ruth, the brand blends vintage warmth with modern wisdom, honoring the strength of the women who came before while forging new pathways for those who are still becoming. Through keynote speaking, community engagement, and practical content, Mamie Ruth & Co. gives womenpermission to rest and the courage to rise. Thriving doesn't always mean pushing forward. Sometimes it means stepping back, remembering who you are, and beginning again.

Meredith is an artist based in Huntsville, Alabama, drawn to the timeless elegance of places like New York and Paris-glittering parties, couture fashion, and beauty that feels just beyond the ordinary. Yet what captivates her most is how these faraway inspirations-fashion houses, natural landscapes, textured materials-quietly echo through everyday life. Her work is rooted in the belief that beauty is layered and meant to be noticed, whether it's in the curve of a gown, the grain of wood, or the shape of a leaf. Blending abstract and impressionist influences, Meredith's art invites others to slow down, look closer, and curate a life that feels both intentional and inspired. Over the past decade, she has created custom pieces for individuals, businesses, and friends who share her love for beauty in all its forms.
