Pause: What I Found When I Decided to Stop

PAUSE: What I Found When I Decided to Stop is a deeply personal and refreshingly honest memoir about what happens when a marketing executive who has spent her entire life sprinting finally chooses to stand still. With humor, humility, and striking clarity, Karin Giffney invites readers into the moments she stepped away from career pressure, fear-driven striving, and the cultural obsession with productivity, discovering an entirely different way of being. Through vivid storytelling, Karin reflects on the moments that shaped her: the quiet ache of burnout, the chaos of juggling career and family, the gift of time, and the unexpected wisdom found in the loons on a lake in Northern Wisconsin. She explores the relentless acceleration of modern life, its packed schedules, blinking notifications, and the constant pressure to do more. She learns that taking pauses allows her to rediscover time, trust, presence, and herself. PAUSE, both poignant and playful, invites readers to consider their own relationship with rest, worth, identity, and the stories they have been told about "success" or striving for perfection. Karin's voice is warm, conversational, and disarmingly real, offering companionship rather than instruction. For anyone who feels stretched thin, swept along, or silently questions the pace of their own life, PAUSE is both a breath of fresh air and a gentle invitation: you do not need to earn your rest. You only need to begin.
