Payback Jack: Sometimes Justice Needs a Trigger (A Red Dirt Road Novel)

"A full-throttle thriller, bristling with political, social, and ethical intrigue." -Luke Swanson, author of The Other Hamlet Brother

"Like William Munny in Unforgiven, Smith Driskill is tough and resilient." -Laya V Smith, author of The Lumbermill

When Smith Driskill, a 55-year-old east Texas farmer, widowed and abandoned by his children; dramatically executes child molester and murderer Rodney William Markum; he is unprepared for the ensuing media circus painting him as a hero or the political free-for-all that ensues when he chooses residence on death row over a day in court. Why is Driskill determined to die on death row, and why have so many people pledged to stop him?

The odd pairing of smitten Detective Nathan DeRidder and rising reporter Kayla Cope race to unravel the mystery behind Driskill's deathwish, while he battles the forces pledged to stop him.

Tim's earliest jobs included frying chicken, mixing cow chips with peat moss to create rich manure, and stacking pallets of fertilizer. Not a cowboy or redneck (Tim would consider either a compliment) but a small-town country kid. While most storytellers claim to be influenced by other authors, Tim's influences include country music singers / legends Hank Williams Jr., Tanya Tucker, Charlie Daniels, Charley Pride, Charlie Rich, George Jones, George Strait, and Merle Haggard. "I was five years old, standing in a smokey juke-joint, when I first heard Charley Pride's Kiss and Angel Food Mornin'. I remember the words becoming images in my head, like a movie, more story to me than song. I aspire for my novels to embrace that rhythm, storytelling, emotional gut punch, and ironic beauty."
