The Pea That Got Away

The Pea That Got Away is a light-hearted story of the kingdom of Babbage, an exiled wizard, and some very smart, tasty peas. After being eaten nearly into extinction because of their excellent flavor, the wizard finds one remaining bush. He magically transforms this plant and all her offspring into unique and special beings. They are told they must travel to the Promised Land in the far west of Babbage. The resourceful peas use every one of the special powers given them to accomplish their mission for the good of all Peakind. Join them on their long and harrowing journey where they are lost, sold, and nearly eaten several times. It's a good read for the whole family!

Wayne R. Smith was born in Iowa, served in the Navy in the seventies, and moved to New Orleans in 1980. He is a published songwriter and poet. As C.E.O. of Dick Snarly Productions, Smith has produced several C.D's. He is still the bass player and lead vocalist for Uncle Snarly. The sequel, in which the evil wizard, Larie, and the good wizard, come to the final battle is already in the works. "My wife, Laura, and I were having diner when a pea rolled off her plate. It was the inspiration for this whole whimsical fantasy. I am sick of "children's stories" full of improper innuendos. I just wanted to write something that people could read to their children."
