About the Author: JILL JACKSON and SY MILLER were a husband and wife songwriting team. Jill wrote the lyrics to "Let There Be Peace on Earth" in 1955 following a difficult time in her life. Sy worked with her to write the melody to the song, which became the most successful in their long and prolific songwriting career.

Since winning the Caldecott Medal in 1995, DAVID DIAZ has illustrated dozens of books and been honored by Parents' Choice, American Illustration, Communication Arts, the American Institute of Graphic Arts, and more. He lives in Carlsbad, California.
