Peace in the Morning: Images and Meditations to Begin Your Day

For years, photographer Dan Ford has captured images of beauty and light all over the world. In this unique collection, he pairs his own work with spiritual words of wisdom from his pastor and friend Hal M. Helms. Every page is an opportunity to enter into a moment of quiet, to rest, and to ponder the possibilities for peace and joy that surround us.

"There is a world to come that will be beautiful beyond all our imagining," Ford says. "I believe that with all my being. But I also believe this world—where we are right now—is full of what should fill us with wonder of God, who is Beauty itself. I wish you peace in the morning."

This little book is an ideal gift for everyone on your list—friends, family, someone struggling with an illness, faithful devotees to Jesus Calling, Echoes of Eternity, or My Utmost for His Highest.

It's the perfect size to put in a stocking, a guest room, a gift basket to greet a new neighbor, or as a gift for your pastor or anyone at your church. Full of reassuring words and beautiful images, Peace in the Morning will brighten anyone's day!

Born in 1933, Dan Ford has been interested in photography since his early childhood. Following two years in the military service, Dan joined Cleveland's largest industrial real estate firm, where he worked for 20 years, and eventually became president. Then in 1975, Dan and his wife, Camie, and their children moved to an ecumenical Christian community on Cape Cod. In the years that followed, Dan's gifts in art and photography blossomed. Peace in the Morning is Dan's third book of photographs. The first, Treasured Moments, highlights nostalgic Cape Cod memories. The second, Faith & Beauty, features the beauty of Tuscany, where Dan spent several months at the Mount Tabor Centre for Art and Spirituality in Barga, Italy.

Born in North Carolina in 1923, Hal M. Helms graduated from Furman University and earned an M. Div. from Hartford Seminary. He served five congregations and then in 1974 became Chaplain at the Community of Jesus, an ecumenical Christian Community on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Rev. Helms “mildly modernized”  a number of classics, including The Pilgrim's Progress, The Imitation of Christ, and The Confessions of St. Augustine, and wrote several devotional books. He died in 1997.
