I Shouldn't Have Peeked!

Being the middle of five children in a busy household, Marla always wanted to make sure her wishes weren't overlooked when it came to gifts, so she peeked. This is the story of the lesson she learned when she peeked once too many times.

This is the story of a lesson learned by the author when she was about five years old when she was living in Menlo Park, California. When their house was lost in a foreclosure after her father's business failed, life changed. The family moved to Northern California, her mother opened a restaurant and parents divorced a couple years later. Marla worked in both the restaurant and theater next door through high school. She married at age 18, went to college and has two children. When the children were 8 and 11, she started in real estate and is still there after 36 years. While President of the Stockton Association of Realtors, she started writing a weekly column in the newspaper that continued for three years. After her divorce and re-marriage, she moved to South Carolina. When the grandchildren asked questions about the other grandparent, Marla decided to find a way to explain divorce in a positive way which resulted in her first book, "Grandparents...The More the Merrier!" Writing about childhood experiences was her next idea, and she enlisted the grandchildren to critique and give her their feedback.
