Synopsis:

Did you know that potato chips, cell phones, and the hairbrush were all created by African American inventors? Kareem did not realize these intriguing facts until his homework assignment turned into an evening of learning. Join Kareem and his younger sister, Karen, as their parents teach them about African American men and women who invented many of the things we use in our lives every day. The author wrote this book for children ages seven to twelve years old, but it is an excellent story for the entire family. Children will enjoy the story and the vivid illustrations. There are many more African American inventors to learn about than are mentioned in the book. The author included a list of additional African American men and women and their inventions to help children learn more about the historical innovations made to society.

The author is an educator who is passionate about instilling the love of reading in children. The author's first published work was a nonfiction children's book titled The ABCs of Covid-19: Helping Children Understand the Global Pandemic, available in English and Spanish.
