The Perfect Packers of 1929: Green Bay's First NFL Championship Team

Long before the 1972 Miami Dolphins, another team finished as undefeated NFL champions: the Green Bay Packers of 1929. This team included some of the most fabled names in the history of professional football, including Mike Michalske, Robert "Cal" Hubbard, Johnny "Blood" McNally, and Earl "Curly" Lambeau, the most important figure in Packers history. Their stories are told here, as are those of their unheralded teammates, such as Verne Lewellen, LaVern "Lavvie" Dilweg, and Francis "Jug" Earp.

Featuring play-by-play of all 13 official Packers games, this book tells the complete story of the Packers' 1929 season, from perhaps the best preseason signings ever all the way to the champions' banquet following a three-game sweep of the Chicago Bears. Every player's biography, every game's story, and nearly all of the season's plays are recorded in this work, a comprehensive review of the Packers' first NFL championship season.
