That Perfect Place

"I can't get involved so soon again" she said. "Please, just once, let something work out," he said. After five years and a lousy marriage, Jillian Maitland finds herself with the job of her dreams and in the path of a man who could make her change her mind about getting involved again. The only trouble is, he's her boss and she sees history repeating itself. Jake Gundersen is a man struggling to keep his father's vet practice alive. His whole family is depending on him, and he is the kind of man who will not let them down. Then he hires Jillian and sees the life he's longed for within reach. But when some cattle turn up dead from a mysterious disease with health papers stolen from Jake's clinic, they are drawn into the investigation, and danger. A deadly tornado and a death in Jill's family cause misunderstandings that threaten to tear them apart. Both discover the depth of the other's love as they battle smugglers and bio-terrorists and realize that only with each other are they in that perfect place. This book is an adventure story that touches on the difficulties of wounded combat veterans. It takes place in the rural Midwest and gives an accurate picture of veterinary medical practice.
