About the Author

Malcolm Barnsley qualified in Naval Architecture in 1978, and worked primarily on renewable energy; and in particular wind energy, where he was a rotor design and test engineer for over 20 years with Vestas Wind Turbines. He has designed and built small experimental sailing boats since 1980, and between 2000 and 2012 was a key member of the team that developed the 2 SAILROCKET craft, the latter of these annihilating the outright speed record of 56 knots with a speed of 65.5 knots in 2012. He is now retired and divides his time between music-making and playing with his small innovative sailing boats in the Solent area.
