Review
...The wide coverage of interpretation and its many facets gives insight into the origins and developments. Most importantly the book gives interpretation practitioners today knowledge of the source of the current ideas, what they were rebelling against and how the new theories evolved.>>> (Leslie Irene Coger)

While Performance of Literature in Historical Perspectives is, as the title tells us, essentially historical, we do get, through its thirty essays, a very good look at nearly every aspect of the performance of literature....clearly an important collection, and the extensive notes following each essay constitute, in themselves, a vast resource for further study.
