Permanent Neutrality : A Model for Peace, Security, and Justice

This collection examines the theory, practice, and application of state neutrality in international relations. With a focus on its modern-day applications, the studies in this volume analyze the global implications of permanent neutrality for Taiwan, Russia, Ukraine, the European Union, and the United States. Exploring permanent neutrality’s role as a realist security model capable of rivaling collective security, the authors argue that permanent neutrality has the potential to decrease major security dilemmas on the global stage.

Glenn Diesen is Professor in the faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of the National Research University - Higher School of Economics in Moscow. His research focus is the geoeconomics of Greater Eurasia and the crisis of liberalism. Professor Diesen's latest books are The Decay of Western Civilisation and Resurgence of Russia: Between Gemeinschaft and Gesellschaft (2018); Russia's Geoeconomic Strategy for a Greater Eurasia (2017); and EU and NATO relations with Russia: After the collapse of the Soviet Union (2015).

Herbert R. Reginbogin is a Collegiate law fellow at the Catholic University of America Institute for Policy Research and professor of international relations and international law.

Pascal Lottaz is a Swiss academic at Kyoto University, Japan, where he researches neutral actors in international relations. He heads the research network neutralitystudies.com, which organizes regular academic conferences and publications. He has published four edited volumes and a monograph on neutrality. He is also the host of the popular YouTube Channel “Neutrality Studies”.
