About the Author

Life has struck the author with luck few times but on a grand scale. First, to be born and to live a better part of her life in Leningrad, where with great difficulty and by chance of absolute accident she had to finish one of the technical universities. Second, long ago, after moving in 1990 from hometown to San Francisco, not to forget how to reflect upon the world in native Cyrillic. Third, the last and most importantly, always and everywhere to find people who agree with the definition of "happiness" by Dovlatov: "What a joy, I know Russian alphabet." Stories, sketches, essays, travel notes, translations were published in magazines "Zvezda," " Neva," " 22," "Voprosi Literaturi," "Nota Bene," anthology "Panorama."
