The Person with Long-Term Oxygen Therapy: Model of Nursing Care in a Home Setting

A person's quality of life can be severely compromised by changes in their ability to breathe, which lead to illness, often chronic, interfering with their life plans, resulting in loss of capacity and independence, and jeopardising their autonomy. It is necessary to empower them with resources that promote autonomy, comfort and well-being, maximising their quality of life. In this sense, healthcare professionals, particularly nurses and nurses specialising in rehabilitation, face the daily challenge of helping people to live with maximum independence, without neglecting their multidimensionality, since a cure is not possible.
