Original tan cloth binding with green text on cover and spine. Light scuffing and shelf wear to cover. Pages are clean and unmarked. This was an examination copy sent to an instructor for review, and contains the bookplate and pink acknowledgement card on the front pastedown. This is a textbook written for the college-level, with sections on personal health and community health. Chapters include hygiene, nutrition, body systems, the science of disease prevention, essential facts of immunity, water supply and waste disposal, ventilation, heating and lighting, public health administration, school and industrial hygiene, communicable diseases, and more. Turner was professor emeritus of public health at MIT and associate professor of hygiene at Tufts College Medical and Dental Schools. From the nursing history collection of Sarah Abrams. Hardcover, very good condition. 565 pages, octavo.
