Aurora P. Realin, MBA, CDM, serves as Manager of Diversity and Inclusion at Florida Hospital. Born in the Philippines, Realin and her family moved to Queens, New York, when she was 13 years old. It was here she first experienced the wide range of diversity among people both in her school and community. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Communicative Disorders from the University of Central Florida and a Master's in Business Administration with emphasis in Health Care Administration from Southern Adventist University. She also holds a Certificate in Diversity Management in Healthcare from Simmons College.
Growing up in a medical family with a physician for a grandfather, a pharmacist for a grandmother, and a brain injury rehab certified registered nurse for a mother, Realin developed a passion for helping others from all walks of life with a special emphasis in the healthcare field.
Realin has worked at Florida Hospital for nearly twenty years. In addition to her hospital responsibilities, she serves as Vice-Chair and board member for The Central Florida Disability Chamber and is an active member of the Asian American Chamber of Commerce and the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Louis R. Preston, Jr., MDiv, CDM, serves as Diversity Officer and Director of Interpreter Services at Florida Hospital. Preston is a third-generation pastor and administrator for the Seventh-day Adventist Church. In 2003, he accepted the call as Diversity Officer for Florida Hospital.
At Florida Hospital, Preston has played a major role in redefining the diversity program. Some of his accomplishments include restructuring the Diversity Committee, receiving permission from the Institute for Diversity in Health Management, an American Hospital Association (AHA) affiliate, to customize their Accountability Diversity Tool for the Florida Hospital culture. Under his leadership, Florida Hospital was the recipient of the 2007 Diversity Best Practice Beacon Award's Corporate Advocate for Diversity.
Preston holds a Master's of Divinity degree from Andrews University Theological Seminary, and a Certificate in Diversity Healthcare Management from the University of Massachusetts. He serves on the Chapter 57 Board for the City of Orlando and is an active member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
