Perspectives in Many-Particle Physics (Enrico Fermi International School of Physics)

These proceedings present a range of topics presently at the forefront of many-body physics. These include microscopic systems such as fullerenes and the atomic nucleus, mesoscopic systems like metal clusters with a sizable but still small number of atoms, and condensed matter. Also dealt with is pairing in matter at very low densities, new phases of carbon, high-temperature superconductivity and supershells. In particular, methods developed in the study of the atomic nucleus which are becoming instrumental in the exploration of the properties of metal clusters are dealt with, as are nonperturbative approaches to strongly correlated fermions in condensed matter which are now becoming a source of inspiration in trying to deal with basic open problems in the study of the nuclear structure.
