Peruvian Pamphlet: Being An Exposition Of The Administrative Labours Of The Peruvian Government From The Time Of Its Formation Till The 15Th Of July, 1822 — Bernardo Monteagudo. This historical document records the early administrative efforts of the Peruvian government during the independence period, presented as an exposition by the minister of state and foreign relations. It outlines the Protectorate framework and the reforms undertaken to stabilize and organize the new state, including the establishment of a provisional constitution, the division of the country into departments, the creation of a High Chamber of Justice, and measures in government, war, finance, and foreign relations. The text also highlights reforms in civil administration, education, and public institutions, the abolition of former tributaries, and the pursuit of national unity and independence. Accompanied by translator’s prefatory material and appendices, the work situates Peru’s transition from colonial rule to self-government within a broader Atlantic context and the hopes for lasting liberty and prosperity.
