Every Peso Had a Name

Why I Chose to Write About OFWs

This piece reflects the emotional and often painful realities faced by Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) around the world. It highlights the sacrifices they make-leaving their families behind, working long hours, and enduring loneliness-all in the hope of providing a better life for their loved ones.

The description also sheds light on the hidden struggles behind remittances, including financial pressure, betrayal, and misuse of hard-earned money by those they trust. Many OFWs face the heartbreaking reality of returning home with little to no savings after years of sacrifice.

Every Peso Had a Name is a story that honors the value behind every remittance-each peso representing hard work, sacrifice, and love. It aims to raise awareness, encourage understanding, and remind readers that gratitude should never turn into exploitation.

This book is a tribute to OFWs everywhere, recognizing their strength, their pain, and their dreams.
