Hardcover, 380 pages in each volume. Bound in full leather, except that both covers are detached and there's only half a spine. Text block is tightly bound in one solid piece, except for front free endpaper, which is loose. Complete with maps and engravings throughout. 5" x 6.5". Pages square and clean, with only mild and scattered foxing. Originally published in 1837 (the same year as Twice Told Tales) -- it is either the first or second of Hawthorne's books, depending on whether you believe in the existence of Fanshawe. This is a tenth edition, printed the year after Mosses from an Old Manse, and several years before The Scarlet Letter. Hawthorne's name does not appear on the book, nor does his sister's, who also had a hand in it. This copy need a new binding.

Regular shipping by USPS Media Mail is $4. MEDIA MAIL SHIPPING DOES NOT INCLUDE TRACKING.
