1950. No place [New York]: Duenewald Printing Corporation Sole Agents for Wehr Animations. Octavo (8.4" x 6.75") Paper wraps (softcover) 2 pages. Includes two colorful illustrated cloth hankies neatly folded into slots on the first page, and one Julian Wehr moveable image of Peter eating a carrot on the second of two pages. Condition: Near Fine. Light edgewear otherwise Fine. Hankies are crisp and as new. Complete as issued. Beatrix Potter's The Tale of Peter Rabbit was originally published in October 1902 by Frederick Warne in London. Unfortunately for the author, Warne neglected copyrighting her work in the United States which lead to publishers in the US printing unauthorized editions stealing her text and images. At least in this case the publisher Duenewald paraphrased the story on the back cover and reused images by Julian Wehr who illustrated an animated version with 4 moveables published by Grosset & Dunlap in 1943 without any hankies.
